iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite: Explained
- Inter-app photo and video editing in iOS 8: Explained: Photo extensions are part of iOS 8's new Extensibility feature, one of the biggest platform advances since the launch of the App Store. With Photo — and video — extensions, we get the ability to access filters and effects from any app right inside Apple's Photos and Camera apps. So, how does inter-app photo and video editing work?
- Custom keyboards in iOS 8: Explained: Custom keyboard extensions, part of iOS 8's new Extensibility feature, allow developers to almost completely replace the default, system-wide iOS keyboard with ones of their own devising. - Apple reaffirms commitment to protecting privacy everywhere, including China: Following China's decision to call iOS location tracking a threat to their national security, Apple has posted a lengthy article on its Chinese website, both in Chinese and English, reaffirming their longstanding commitment to privacy.
- Apple launches Swift blog to keep developers up to date on the new language: Apple has launched a new blog focused on their new Swift programming language. At the moment, there are two posts to the blog. The first is a welcome post. The second deals with Swift's compatibility with current apps, source code, and more
- iTunes 11.3 gives your movies all-new, all-streaming iTunes Extras: Apple has released iTunes 11.3, bringing some improvements to iTunes Extras for HD movies. This biggest change is that you will no longer need to download iTunes Extras to your computer before using them.
- Clean energy the focus of Apple's environmental report: Apple has just released its environmental report for 2013 where the company is highlighting its clean energy use at its offices, stores, and employee initiatives. The report makes note of Apple's use of renewable energy, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and reduction of carbon footprint.
